Paradise, love, power…and a prophecy with a price.

Most people believe Eden no longer exists. Lexi Merrill’s about to learn they’re wrong. A hard-working bartender with a self-sufficient backbone and a wary nature, she knows pickup lines like a second language. So, when Eryx Shantos barges into her world with too-smooth words and a body to back it up, she locks up her libido and vows to keep her distance.

Eryx has other ideas. As king of the Myren race, Eryx is duty-bound to enforce the laws preventing exposure of their existence to humans. Yet The Fates have led him through his dreams to Lexi, a temptation he doesn’t want to resist. The question—is she Myren, or human, which makes her forbidden fruit?

When Eryx’s nemesis tags Lexi as his next target, Eryx insists on taking her home where he can keep her safe. Lexi had no idea “home” would mean the one-and-only land of creation…or that she’d trigger a prophecy that could doom her newfound race.

excerpt

Every good romance has its ups and downs, right? A particular hurdle (or multiple hurdles) the couple as to face to make the ending that much more satisfactory?

Well, in this excerpt, Eryx is beginning to realize he might have dug a hole for himself that’s not gonna be too easy to climb out of…

Eryx skipped another pebble across the lake’s surface, tiny ripples echoing out along the surface from the twenty or so others he’d thrown before it. Still a lot more peaceful than the chaos rattling around in his head.

A perfect Eden day. Sunshine, spring weather, an easy lakeside picnic…ideal for Lexi’s celebration day. He should be excited.

Still doling out information as you see fit?

Lexi’s comment still stung. He could only imagine the words she’d sling at him when the day was over—assuming she lived that long.

“Stop fidgeting, Eryx.” Orla’s snap matched her towel’s sharp pop as she shooed an eager fly from the food.

Ramsay, Graylin and Ludan stood beneath the frius tree’s tall branches, their voices void of the strain clogging his own throat.

“It’s perfectly normal for a woman to take her time getting ready.” Orla smoothed an unseen wrinkle along the vibrant blue linen tablecloth. “Especially when her man leaves her a beautiful gift.”

A deep sapphire gown accented by a platinum belt encrusted with diamonds, and cuffs to match. Bold, like the woman. Damned if he didn’t have the drive of a horny teen backed up with the lust of a seasoned warrior. He should be patient. More balanced.

A cool spring breeze floated across the water’s surface and brushed his face, but did zero to sooth his need to pace. “What the hell’s taking them so long? I sent Galena in there to help, not add hours to the process.”

“Perhaps Galena’s adding to her Myren education. We’ve already established Lexi knows nothing of mating, let alone that you want her for your own.” Orla tossed a hand towel on the chair he’d vacated and planted her fists on her hips. “From the sounds of things, she doesn’t even know you’re the malran.”

“She knows.” A petulant answer, but he was past the point of caring.

“But does she know what a malran is?” Orla tottered closer, insistent.

The smooth surface of the lake barely rippled. Too bad his patience didn’t match. “In a manner of speaking.”

“Whose manner, may I ask?”

Something snapped. One second the lake filled his vision, the next he towered over the woman who’d all but raised him. “I told her I was our leader. We’d only just met and she knew nothing of our race. Should I have explained I was her equivalent of a king right off the bat?” He threw his hands up. “Oh wait, you’d have me also tell her I want her as my baineann right after I’d carried her through a portal and thrown fire from my palm!”

He faced the lake and fought to calm his raging breath. Heavy gazes burned into his back, the peace of the spring silence awkward. He’d never advanced on Orla like that before. Ever.

“Forgive me.” Orla’s voice floated to him, consoling. “I was only thinking of Lexi. I didn’t consider the obstacles in your path.”

A sharp ache pulsed at his jawline, his teeth clenched tight enough to smooth his molars. Shame hung heavy around his neck. “I should apologize to you.”

Closing the short distance between them, he pulled Orla to his chest and kissed the top of her gray head. If he couldn’t keep his emotions in check, he’d never make it through the night. Not with the deception ahead.

A throaty chuckle rumbled from Ramsay’s direction. The grin on his twin’s face grew to a full-on smile as he crossed his arms. “You’re a lucky man.” He jerked his head toward the garden gate. “Prepare to walk the gauntlet, brother.”

Sweet Great One on High.

Lexi strolled along the winding path, Galena beside her. The flowers, the waving grass, the muted stones on the home behind her—all background details to her focal point. Midnight-colored hair, loose about her shoulders. Tanned skin wrapped in a body-hugging blue gown. Pride tried to get him to shut his slack jaw, but the rest of him was too shell- shocked to care.

The perfect malress.

Primal instinct pounded at him. Take. Protect. Indulge.

No. Not yet. She needed him to guide and teach her. Not sling her over his shoulder and stomp off to some hidden cave.

Rounding the last curve on the path, Lexi met his rapt stare. A blush stole across her face and her fingers fluttered at her sides.

Eryx pushed open the garden gate, his movements harsh and embarrassingly gawky.
Galena slid past them, eyes diverted with a know-it-all smirk.
He cupped Lexi’s elbow, drew her closer, and slid his hand until he’d circled her wrist. It seemed so small and vulnerable, the flutter of her pulse frantic beneath his thumb. He kissed the delicate spot. “I’ve seen many beautiful things, but nothing moves me like you, Alexis.” He pulled her close, the sweet scents of rosemary and mint clinging to her skin. No matter what it took, he wouldn’t give up. She was his mate…whether she realized it yet or not.

Headshot 1

Rhenna Morgan writes for the same reason she reads—to escape reality.

Yes, her life rocks—two beautiful little girls, a great husband, a steady job, and the kind of friends that would take you out back if you hurt her. But, like most women, she’s got obligations stacked tight from dusk to dawn. So, when the world gets her down, she slips into something…less realistic.

Romance is a must. So is a steamy romp (or four). Nothing thrills her more than the fantasy of new, exciting worlds, strong, intuitive men, and the sigh of, “Oh if only that could happen to me.”

So, if you’re picking up one of her books, expect portals into alternate realms and men who’ll fight to keep the women they want. Romantic escape for the women who need it.

Book Blurb

From Romantic Book of the Year winner Kendall Talbot comes an adrenaline-fuelled new series introducing sassy sexy characters, exotic locations, and action-packed adventure.

Some secrets should remain hidden forever…

The last place Rosalina expected the clue to a 700-year-old mystery to lead her was back into the arms of Archer, the man who broke her heart. When neither can solve the puzzle without the other, they set off on a new adventure. They’re forced to ignore the sparks that still fly unhindered between them as their search for the golden riches weaves from Tuscany’s underbelly to Archer’s luxurious yacht in the Greek Islands.

Archer desperately wants to salvage his shattered relationship with Rosalina but fighting for her love soon takes a back seat to fighting for their lives. Ruthless competition is hot on their heels and will do anything to get his hands on the treasure. With evil close on their trail, and Archer wrestling with the remnants of a childhood tragedy, Rosalina begins to wonder if some secrets were never meant to be revealed.

excerpt

The man’s fingers were iron bands around Rosalina’s wrist as he dragged her down the dark passage. The more she struggled, the tighter his fingers squeezed. She gagged at his foul odour, but it didn’t stop her sucking in deep breaths between each terrified scream.

‘If you stop screaming, I’ll leave your clothes on.’ His calmness was terrifying and in that instant, she had no doubt he’d done this before.

She shut up. The fear of being naked in front of him set her heart to explode. ‘Where’re you taking me?’

He stopped and pulled her up close. ‘You’ll be safe as long as you and your boyfriend cooperate.’

‘He’s not my boyfriend.’ She instantly regretted the admission. Damn. Why did I say that?

When the man turned again, she knew resistance was useless. He tugged her along behind him. She studied the walls, looking for something, anything to memorise, but every wall, every passage, whether they went left or right looked the same. It’d be impossible for Archer and Alessandro to find her. She knew they’d both come. Both of them, working together? That would be interesting. Between Archer’s impatience and Alessandro’s fastidiousness, they might kill each other before they even got to her.

Around yet another corner they stopped, and her captor wrestled keys from his pocket. With a grating metal on metal sound, the door opened and he dragged her through it. The door was like something from a medieval movie, at least four inches thick and held together with parallel black iron rods.

‘No one will hear you down here.’ He shoved her into the room and stepped back towards the door. Rosalina didn’t hesitate. She dived at the man, jumping onto his back and curling her arm around his neck. His hands clawed at her arm but she squeezed even tighter. He made a gagging noise, and as Rosalina clamped tighter still she caught wafts of his hideous odour. She blocked them, focusing only on fighting her way out. He grabbed her hair and she screamed as he yanked it. The pain was like thousands of needles stabbing her scalp. With the clump of hair, he dragged her head over his shoulder. Rosalina stopped screaming and bit into the first thing her teeth could sink into — the meaty muscle in his shoulder. It was his turn to scream and he let go of her hair.

His fists were flailing now and he spun her around. Her hip hit the open door, but still she clung on. She managed to dodge his first punch, with it glancing off her forehead, butbefore she could react to avoid it, his next punch hit her right in the eye.

Pain exploded in her brain. Her body went limp and she hit the floor like a sack of potatoes.

I’ve spent my entire life gazing at the stars, wondering if I’ll ever get to live in the light. It must be dazzling and wonderful.
You’ve read about tortured souls, but you’ve never read about mine.I was taken before I was even born. It was my destiny and written in my stars.

You haven’t.
And sadly … it’s all true. It happened to me. And I hate that it’s my life.

I shouldn’t be alive.Life was never my own. Nothing was given to me and everything was taken from me.I ran. I fought. I stayed alive. Well, my body survived, my mind didn’t.
I’m damaged beyond repair.I live on my nerves.I feel emotions bigger than myself, and I am many things.
Vulnerable

Paranoid.
Guarded.

I pray that one day I will be free. But that means placing trust and letting someone in.
Would they make me brighter? Would they make me believe? Would I make them dark?

He is light.
I trust him.
I want him.
I need him.

He is everything I have fought my entire life to avoid. He makes me feel.
He is taking me places I never imagined could be possible. He is giving me new life. He is keeping me in his light. He is giving me his heart, body, mind, and soul. I love it … I love him.And there is no other place I want to be other than in his arms.
With Lucca … I feel like I can breathe.I’m alive. I need him to keep me here.
I’m Lexi and this is my story about a world of darkness and a journey towards the light.

sj molloy

SJ Molloy, British Author of ‘The Luminara Series’ was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. As a young child, her family moved and raised her in Lanarkshire, Scotland where she currently resides with her husband, two daughters and her energetic, hyperactive loving gun dog who is utterly spoiled.

SJ is a qualified Fitness Instructor and Health & Fitness Motivator of various fitness styles and disciplines. Music and dance aerobics have always been a pleasure and passion for her. SJ will sporadically make up dance style routines at any hour of the day when a move comes to her or piece of music moves or inspires her. Currently not teaching classes, she is focusing her time into nurturing her yearning passion for creative writing, exchanging one visualisation for another.

As a child, SJ loved to write in journals and make up short stories and has a flare for all things creative. With an overactive imagination at times, SJ adores to make notes, visualise scenes and settings to create characterisations.

While on holiday with her family one summer reading book after book, she had a flash of inspiration and has had various ideas whirling around in her mind ever since. It was not until she pulled back on teaching classes that she found the courage, time and insight into actually bringing these ideas to life.

In February 2013 she decided to bring that imagination to light by beginning her writing journey with ‘Lussuria’ the first instalment in ‘The Luminara Series’. ‘Lussuria’ was first published late November 2013, then re-published in April 2014. ‘L’amore’ the second instalment was published in June 2014.

Being a self-confessed book junkie, she loves nothing better than to get lost in an emotional and moving book. A true romantic at heart, her guilty pleasure is reading heart-warming, passionate stories and falling in love with her favourite fictional characters.

With nine books already mapped out in ‘The Luminara Series’, SJ’s busy creative mind has already planned two more fictitious novels, both stand-alone romance books and very different in their own right.

When she is not writing or reading, spending time with family and friends or exercising and walking her dog, SJ loves all things practical and creative. Dancing, music, cooking, travelling, good food and wine and painting are her favourite past times along with laughter, lots and lots of laughter.

excerpt

Fate’s Love

“Liv, what’s going on? Is she okay? Keefer told me what went down.”

I moved away from the door and met Ethan halfway. “No, she isn’t okay.” It came out bitter.

“Can I do anything? I could come-”

I shook my head. “We’re fine, thanks.” Without realizing I stepped back and Ethan’s face paled.

“And us?”

My eyes dropped to the floor.

“Liv, look at me. What. About. Us?”

I forced myself to look at him. My head and heart were at war. My heart wanted him to wrap me in his arms and tell me everything was going to be okay. That Amber would heal. That Sharn would meet her Prince Charming. That we really did have something. But my head knew better. My head would always know better.

“There is no us. I’m sorry, Ethan. Goodbye.” I turned from him and fled back to the limo.

“You’re running from me, Liv. Don’t use this as an excuse to run,” he called out.

Once in the safety of the limo, I slammed the door behind me, ignoring Sharn’s questioning glare.

“How is she?”

“A mess. This will leave scars.” Sharn answered.

I leaned my head onto the backrest and pressed a finger to my lips, trying to remember what kissing Ethan felt like. Was it even real? It didn’t feel real. Not now. It felt like a dream—the really good kind, until you wake up and realize it was just that.

A dream.

Because in the harsh light of day, life wasn’t like that. It was hard—full of hurt and people who let you down.

No, life wasn’t like a dream at all.

The chemistry is right, even if the timing is all wrong.

Sparks will fly, but will they spark love?

excerpt

Love’s Spark

The Lounge was crammed. Friday nights were always full of students, but it was the best club for a more chilled out vibe. It had two rooms; a bar area and a dance area, then there was a huge covered courtyard. After navigating the queue at the bar, I managed to get us drinks. We wound our way through the crowds of drunken, rowdy college kids, and found an empty sofa at the far end of the courtyard. Sharn’s body moved in time to the music, and from how natural she made it looked, I could tell she liked to dance—something I never did.

“It’s really busy.” Her words sounded a little slurred.

“Are you drunk? You only had two glasses of wine with dinner.” I mocked. I’d switched to soda after a couple of beers—I was driving.

“I am not!” She gasped. “I’m just excited. I don’t get out all that much.”

“What about your friend? The girl I saw you with at 42nds?”

She turned her body slightly to face me. “Mae? We work together, and have a Friday night ritual. She’s married though.”

My eyes glanced over her neck and chest, lingering over her low cut dress. I could just make out the curve of her tits.

“Hey.” She snapped her fingers in front of my nose. “My face is here, mister.”

Busted.

“I can’t help where my eyes decide to look. Did you blow off your Friday night ritual with Mae, for me?”

She blushed again, and my inner guy punched the air—I affected her as much as she affected me. “Maybe. Hmm-” She hesitated, as if she wanted to ask me something. My stomach pooled with dread.

“Can I ask you something? Where did you go last weekend?”

Fuck. It would be so easy to tell her the truth—to let her in. But I choked, unable to do it. I didn’t want to ruin the night—to see the pity in her eyes. I didn’t want her to feel sorry for me. So I played the game I’d been playing from the start. Leaning forward, I dipped my head and swept her hair away from her shoulder with my hand. As I brushed my lips against the soft spot underneath her ear, she trembled and I whispered, “Not tonight. I’ll tell you, but not tonight.”

She let out a breathy sign as I curved my arm around her waist and pulled her body flush to mine. Our lips found each other’s, and I knew. This was it for me. She was it. But she still knew nothing about me, and that scared the shit out of me. I had to tell her. And soon. Or I’d lose her. Someone like Sharn wouldn’t play games for long.

ERASING FAITH by Julie JohnsonBook Title: Erasing Faith

Book Blurb

“You can’t erase your soulmate. The marks they leave are etched in permanent ink.”

WES

Weston Abbott is a ghost.
I like it that way.
Floating from place to place, I slip seamlessly into other people’s lives and destroy them from the inside out.
I’m untouchable. Untraceable.
Until her.
She’s in my head, under my skin. I can’t shake her — I don’t want to shake her.
She’s the best thing that ever happened to me.
And I’m her worst nightmare, come out to play.

FAITH

Faith Morrissey is dead.
I killed her.
Well, that’s what it feels like.
For three years, I’ve lived as “Fae Montgomery” in a city of strangers, licking my wounds and trying to forget. It’s pointless. No matter how many times I change my name or vanish around unfamiliar street corners, I’ll never stop seeing that foolish, naive girl whenever I look in the mirror.
I know it wasn’t real — that he wasn’t real — but that doesn’t make it any easier.
I can erase myself.
I can never erase him.

excerpt

“I have to get back to my life. People will be looking for me in New York.”

Shit. I hadn’t meant to tell him where I was living.

Tension saturated the room, denser than morning fog. “Who?”

My back went ramrod straight as I listened to his footsteps crossing the room back toward me.

“Who’s waiting for you, Faith?” His tone was deceptively soft, but I could hear the strain beneath his words. “A boyfriend? A husband?”

I didn’t answer, but my hands curled into fists by my sides. He had no right to know the answer to those questions — not anymore.

“Is it the man who helped you disappear? The one who turned you into Fae Montgomery? Because whoever he is, he has connections. Even I couldn’t find you. And, believe me, I looked.”

My stomach clenched at that admission.

“Someone helped you vanish off the face of the fucking earth, without a single trace. No mere name-change could’ve erased you so thoroughly.”

I bit my lip to keep from answering as Conor’s face flashed in my mind.

“Someone taught you to shoot.” His words slithered around me like a snake, moving in for the kill strike. I tried to ignore him, but the closer he moved toward me, the harder it was to remain unaffected. “Someone helped you change into this… new person.”

I spun around so fast, I nearly knocked noses with him. He edged back until our faces were a few centimeters apart, and I glared into his eyes, suddenly furious.

“You want to know who changed me?” If looks could kill, he’d be down on the floor, bleeding out. “You. You changed me.”

His jaw clenched.

“You broke me, Wes-whatever-your-real-fucking-name-is-Adams. You ripped my life to shreds and walked away.” I shoved his shoulders with both hands and screamed a little when he barely even rocked back. “You don’t get to know about my life after you wrecked it. And you certainly don’t get to judge me for how I chose to put myself back together after you shattered me.”

I shoved him again, fighting the tears that were suddenly threatening to pour, and continued to berate him.

“If you don’t like the girl you see in front of you, you have only yourself to blame. You feel like I’m a new person? Good. I don’t want to be that fool who believed your lies ever again.” Despite my efforts, I felt a tear slip out from beneath my lashes. When I shouted at him again, my voice cracked with emotion. “You don’t recognize the woman I’ve become? Perfect. Now you know what it feels like to look at someone you thought you understood, and realize you never knew them at all.”

“What do you want from me?” he growled, his dark eyes narrowed in anger. The careful restraint he always used was stripped from his voice. “Do you want me to pinky fucking promise that I’m not going to hurt you again? Because I can’t. Grow up. This is the real world, Faith. I’m not accountable for your happiness — no one on this godforsaken planet is.”

“I don’t want anything from you!” I screamed, shoving him again.

My fists pounded against his arms, his shoulders, anywhere I could reach. I was crying full-out now — a sniffing, sniveling mess — and I couldn’t stop the tears streaming down my face any more than I could stop the words flowing from my mouth.

“You’re the devil.”

My vision was blurred, my voice clogged with grief as I struck him again and again with balled fists. He didn’t move, didn’t speak; he just stood there and let me hit him.

“You’re the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

My voice broke on the last word and I felt something deep inside me break, too. Anger dissolved as quickly as it had materialized, replaced by sorrow so deep, shouldering it instantly fatigued me.

Strength sapped from my limbs, my blows subsided into feeble strikes against his chest. I thought I might collapse under the weight of my own broken heart.

“I hate you,” I whispered weakly, the heat of my anger gone. “I hate you so much.”

I’d never been a very good liar.

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.

Maxwell Knight was dangerously good-looking, seductively charming, and definitely trouble. He was everything Jeanella Mefferd did NOT need now.

~*~ Sales Blitz ~*~ Flawed And Damaged By Emily Krat

Book Title: Flawed and Damaged
Author: Emily Krat
Genre: New Adult/Contemporary Romance
Release Date: 22 July, 2014

Two people haunted by their past…
The collision of two damaged hearts…
Meet Elizabeth Williams. She is at the airport on an important work assignment. If everything goes smoothly, after three years of hard work, she’ll get a promotion and a much-needed raise. Elizabeth is putting her life back on track after it was ripped out from under her feet four years ago when she lost her parents along with all her dreams. Standing here, she believes her life is going to change for the better any moment now. Nothing can go wrong, right?
Meet Ryan Price. He came to Moscow on business. Right now, Ryan is standing at the airport looking at a ‘present’ from his brother, judging by the sign a beautiful young woman is holding. Damn his brother for not cancelling this arrangement as Ryan asked.
Miscommunications and misunderstandings and a love story begins.
There will be a scary flight, lovely breakfasts, long evening conversations, sharing a secret or two, discovering one another, a lot of laughter, tender moments and some tears, a fight and, of course, the I-am-ready-for-the-end-of-the-world kiss.
Somewhere along the way, they won’t be able to fight their feelings any longer.
For the first time in his life, Ryan will experience a different shade of lust. And for the first time in her life, Elizabeth will have to trust despite all of the times she has been hurt.
Will these two wounded lost souls find love, peace and comfort in each other or will they just break each other more? Is it a train wreck of a love story or a happily ever after?

“Ryan, I love you.” He looks confused, but relief is evident in his eyes, so I continue. “It was wrong of me to tell you about my feelings like I did yesterday. I was being a coward. I’m glad you shared all this with me. I won’t run, Ryan.”
“But, I don’t understand. How can you love me? Even after I told you about what I’ve done … How can you love someone so … horrible?” he says bitterly.
“You are not horrible, Ryan. I know it. I feel it.”
“How?” The desperation in his voice squeezes my chest.
I stare into the deep green pools that are his eyes and wonder how I can show him what I see.
“In here,” I point to my heart, “I believe my heart. And from what you told me, I can tell that you had no family except Mark. You were a kid at thirteen who didn’t want to lose his brother, you were a young man who sacrificed his own freedom for someone he loved the most. Now you are a big business mogul who may be harsh toward his employees, but puts them first even when seeking revenge. It’s an honor for me to love someone as devoted as you.”
“Liz, I’ve lied – ” I interrupt him.
“We are people, Ryan. We all make mistakes. You think I’m so pure? I wanted to use David to stay in Seattle. I agreed to marry someone for my own selfish reasons. Then I came to Russia and spent more than six months making my Granny’s life a living hell. She lost her only daughter. I never once thought about her feelings. She was old, she needed my care, and all I did was sulk for my old life. Even with you, how do you know I’m not using you? Maybe I just like this sense of fulfillment I feel with you that overwhelms the loneliness I’ve felt for so long. I am not a saint, Ryan. I also did awful things.”
Ryan contemplates my words for several minutes. Then says quietly, “I lied to you.”
I sigh. Now I don’t like the direction this conversation is taking. “You already told me that you didn’t need an assistant. There’s more?”
“I read your journal.”
The blood drains from my face.
“You what?” My voice trembles.
“When we were in Nice – the night you got drunk with Mark – I saw your notebook and I read it.”
“I … I …” No words come out of my mouth because I don’t have any. I can’t believe he did it. I wrote my sacred thoughts there, poured some raw feelings on those pages. They were never meant for anyone’s eyes other than mine.
“I’m sorry I did it. I was at a loss, I couldn’t understand what I was feeling for you.”
“So you read my journal to understand yourself? Ryan, it’s private. I poured my soul there. How could you do this?” I may be screaming now, but I don’t care. Some boundaries can’t be crossed.
“That’s who I am, Elizabeth. I don’t care about people’s privacy.”
“I’m so mad at you right now. I don’t even know what to say. Is that all?”
“No.”
Oh God!

“Tell me.” He almost looks scared. That’s when I know there are so many more lies he doesn’t want to tell me about. “Now, Ryan. You are going to tell me every damn thing. You owe me this.”

Always an avid reader who consumes whole books in a single day, Emily Krat is ecstatic to now be on the other side of the page. For her writing stories and developing ideas for novels is a true passion and a dream come true. Emily is a chocolate junkie, “Grey’s Anatomy” fan, and admirer of good music. Synopsis

For Zoey Odell, the definition of family is her two best friends, Maya and Addy. So when Maya makes the decision to leave her abusive husband, Zoey is only too happy to lavish her with support and a temporary home. Unfortunately, taking in her best friend also means seeing more of that no good do-gooder, Kellen Bradley.

For Kellen, the definition of family has just been shattered. After finding out that his brother is an abusive monster, he can’t help but question himself and his parents. The one thing he knows for certain is that he’ll do anything to take care of his sister-in-law and her children. For them, he would walk into gunfire, pass through the flames of hell…even go head-to-head with Zoey Odell.

Zoey has no intention of letting him in, but Kellen is done taking her crap. Life has just gotten real and he’s more than ready to shed his nice-guy image. When he finally stands up to her, Zoey starts seeing him in a new light. As the attraction turns mutual, she finds it more and more difficult to hide behind her carefully formed walls. And Kellen is finding himself more and more driven to tear those walls down.

excerpt

He opened his eyes and for the first time ever, there was fire in them. He stepped toward her and pointed at her. “Here’s how it’s going to be. I’m going to visit my sister and her kids whenever. The fuck. I want. And you’re going to keep your goddamn mouth shut about how much you hate me, especially around those kids. You got no right badmouthing me where they can hear. You understand all that?”

She pressed her lips together to keep from grinning. “Yeah, I understand.”

He stepped back, the fire in his eyes replaced by stunned confusion. He blew out a breath and rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m sorry to have to talk to you like that, but you’ve left me no choice.”

She did laugh, then. She couldn’t help herself. “What’s next, Kellen? Are you gonna spank me and send me to bed?”

He actually blushed.

She stopped laughing and arched her brow. “Is that what you want, Kellen? To spank me?” She was possessed of the desire to flirt. Like a warrior who’d finally met her match on the field of battle, she found a kinship with her enemy. And in her case, a sudden and exciting attraction.

Synopsis

You shouldn’t mix business with pleasure.

Yet pleasure seems to be the one and only thing on Charlize’s mind the moment Connor steamrolls into her life. Desperate to save her family company, prove she’s more than a pretty face and worthy of being CEO, pleasure is a distraction she can’t afford.

She doesn’t want a bodyguard, especially not one whose caveman heroics kick her libido into hyperdrive. But surrounded by enemies and an attacker on the loose, there’s only one man she can trust with her life.

Connor knows better than to get personal with clients. Yet there couldn’t be anything more personal about his feelings for Charlize. From the moment he clapped eyes on her he wanted nothing more than to throw her over his shoulder and really give her something to scream about. He’ll get his uptight she-cat to unwind, preferably one orgasm at a time.

With Connor in her office, her home, driving her to sweet, merciless distraction, there’s only so long Charlize can resist his sexy, dominant brand of protection.

excerpt

“So I guess you’ll be glad when this is all over and you can go back to running Crowe Security instead of having to play boyfriend, huh?”

Something dark and raw shifted over Connor’s features. His jaw hardened. The waitress reappeared, balancing large plates of food. She set them down and Connor waited until she moved away before he spoke again.

“Is that what you think? That this is a game I’m playing to pass the time?”

Charlize picked up her knife and fork and stared at the steaming brown mess on her plate. A sharp pain tightened her chest at the idea she might be right, but a slow, suffocating fear told her she might be wrong. “I have no idea what this is.”

The plate disappeared from in front of her and her gaze snapped up. Connor moved her dishes, silverware, napkin and glasses from the middle of the table to the end against the wall. He looked at her from beneath hooded brows and reached for her arm, urging her to move. The leather seat shuffled against her thighs as she slid to the inside end of the booth. Connor sat down beside her and reached an arm around her shoulders but not in a casual, romantic way. The embrace pressed her to him, made her feel the heat of his skin, the hardness of his body, but most of all he captured her, forced her attention on him.

“I told you once, I don’t play games. I want you, Charlize, and I’ve only just begun to have you. The sooner you figure that out and stop fighting me, the sooner you can just enjoy it.”

Her back remained straight and she managed not to lean against him. “It’s a bad idea, Connor. I’m not the girl you want, at least not long-term.” She forced her head to turn, forced herself to look him in the eye. “Aside from an obvious appreciation for my ass, I’m not even sure why you want me at all.”

His jaw and his gaze softened then he leaned in, put his mouth right next to her ear. “Is that it, baby? You’re feeling insecure, need me to say some sweet shit to make you feel better?” His hand moved under the table to her thigh, ran the length of her knee to her groin, made responding to his question impossible. “Fine, but I can’t promise I’ll be good at it,” he whispered.

He cupped her, his thumb pressing through her jeans in exactly the right place. She gasped, sucking in a mouthful of air that tasted of the peppery steam rising from her plate.

“Yeah I like more than your ass. I like the way you never give up, the way you never give in.” His thumb moved, pushed the thick, hard seam stitched into the denim between her legs. Using firm, shallow movements, he massaged her, taunting her aching clit. “Except when it comes to this—when it comes to this you give me everything.”

Her breath hitched. She heard the words and they melted her insides. But it was his fingers that commanded her.

“But most of all, I like how you always try so damn hard.”
