At 28, it’s bad to be single. After four years of relationship struggles, Cat is ready to try anything.

That’s when her friend tells her about her class’ Dear Santa letters. One little boy asked for a new mommy, and she suggests Cat meets the kid’s dad, just to see where things go. Cat figures it can’t hurt…until she meets a stranger in the midst of a car accident. The man is handsome with a sad look in his eyes. He still wears a wedding band and she’s not sure his heart’s available, even if he makes her heart race. But, maybe he’s a widower? Cat wonders if she should resign herself to being an old maid, or whether she could possibly be the answer to a little boy’s Christmas wish, unless there’s a third option – a future with the stranger.

Dear Diary,

When I eventually return to read my entries in my old age, I’ll always remember just how miserable I was in December of 2017. I should have had a diary when I was a teen; then it would have been funny to re-read what I went through back then. When I was in high school, I didn’t have many friends. In fact, my mother introduced me to a girl on the day of orientation. Here’s the story:

Mom parked her car, and we got out. She began looking for all the gathered students outside of the gymnasium. I knew no one at the high school and Mom knew that too. It was mainly because I finished middle school in a different district and at that moment, I was not happy about the move. I gazed at the students and my Mom. She had that glint in her eyes that said a plan was forming and I could do nothing to stop it. After a minute, she motioned me to follow her and I did, just like the good girl that I was. We walked up to two girls. One had long brown hair and was wearing a loose shirt and long skirt, while the other had short blonde hair, glasses and wore a tiger t-shirt with jeans. Mom told them how it would be nice for them to take little old me into their friendship. They said ‘sure,’ and she just left me there.

You see Diary? Now those are memories. Memories of dating an engaged guy at 28, is not as good as that one, huh?

If you’re wondering, I couldn’t really make friends with the long skirt. She and I were too different. She was very opinionated, and I couldn’t hold a conversation without being confused. The glasses girl and I stayed friends until the first year of college. We grew apart after she moved away. I did hear from her once. She congratulated me on my degree. It was random. She sounded happy, and she met her life partner. I was happy for her, but that conversation didn’t rekindle the friendship that lasted for five years.

Now, I am off to work. Yes, I’m working today, although it’s a Sunday. There are branches open on Sundays; I am talking about the ones inside the grocery stores. My friend, Jessica, who’s a manager at one, called me to cover for her today because she has a cold. I couldn’t say no, so I need to go. Oh, and she told me to buy her crew breakfast! At least, we’re only open until 2 pm today.

PS: Buy those groceries TONIGHT, or you’ll be eating Chinese noodles, and not the take-out ones.

The only thing standing between a new vampire and eternal darkness is the mortal woman who claims his heart.

Youngling vampire Dominic Marchant struggles to master his deadly instincts as he hunts the urban jungles of South Florida. He keeps his hunger confined to the blood of the guilty with help from Cassidy Chandler, a human woman who can literally touch his soul. Their love is his last remaining tether to humanity, which is tested beyond endurance when powerful forces from his past introduce him to terrifying new appetites he could never have imagined.

His efforts to protect Cassidy from the depravity overtaking him push their relationship to the brink of shattering. Refusing to give up on the man who is her heart, she takes an unthinkable gamble to save him. But is she fulfilling an ominous prophecy that ensnares them both? Or has she become just another pawn in a cunning game played by the five-thousand-year-old vampire who claims Dominic as his own?

Desperate to rescue her from a fate worse than death, Dominic strikes a perilous bargain with his greatest enemies only to face an impossible choice—embrace his darkest self . . . or destroy the woman he cannot live without.

My Review:
So this is my first time reading anything by SK Ryder, although this is the 2nd book in this series I was told that I could read this without reading the first one
I got a good sense of the main characters Dominic, Cassidy , Serge and Jackson.
I had an issue with getting into this story which is unusual for me.
Maybe it was because I hadn’t read the first one, who knows, I did find at times it seemed be too drawn out, anywho here is my review:
Dominic Marchant is a vampire and in love with Cassidy Chandler
He seems to be fighting to keep his humanity, Cassidy seems to keep him grounded
but it looks like he might need to make a choice; his humanity or his Cassidy!
The decisions made come with great consequences, and many are heavy and often involve life or death, or both even.
It was a good story full of love, hope, darkness and blood.

~*~ New Release & Review ~*~ The Revival by Hollis Canon

The Revival

Loner. Grade A loser. White trash.

Troian Michaels has been called these and much more in the three years of her high school existence. The girls at school pick on her because of who her parents are. Her momma? The town whore. Her father? The same man who is the father of the most beautiful and popular girl in her grade.
Troian is no stranger to heartbreak and feeling less than she is. Her brother Zaiden is the only person who even cares about her. When Zaiden comes by for a visit, he sees the shape she is in. Bruises covering her face, few scars marring her once perfect complexion, she feels like she doesn’t matter.

Drug Addict. Wannabe Musician. Rich kid.

Cade Stephens has heard it all before. He has a bad reputation and he doesn’t care much about what others think about him. He had a give no shit type of attitude, but secretly wants more. He wants to have a reason to continue living sober, a reason to not always feel so alone in his own head.
People have always judged Cade on the way he dresses, the tattoos that cover his arms, and the piercings in his lip. They may make up the image of him, but his music is what truly drives him. Music makes him feel alive, or as alive as he can possibly feel anymore.

~*~

My Review:

Firstly I would like to thank the lovely Hollis Canon for kindly reaching out to me as a new & up ‘n’ coming author and kindly providing me with a copy of “The Revival” to read and review.
This was such a great story, it was raw, the back story to Troian was gripping, she lived such a hard & horrible life, that is of course until her older brother, her hero stepped in and took her away from it all.
Its hard an upsetting knowing that this kind of bullying happens in this day & age, and what hurts more is that the majority of “humans” won’t involve themselves, to help, protect or save someone who’s in a bad situation at that time, I’d like to think that if I ever saw something so horrific happening that I would step in to help if/hen the time was needed.
I do hope that we get to see more from these, maybe in the second one (if there is on) we get to see the backstory to Cade, the deep, dark & bad secret that he’s hiding from everyone.
Revival is a story of surviving and living in the moment, not letting anyone or anything come in-between your happiness, even if it means kicking out family.
I love this debut novel by Canon, I believe the best is still to come, I can only imagine what happens next

My name is Lucy Tucker, and my life…it was perfect.
I worked the dream job. I had the most incredible family and friends. My home, Whispering Willows, a ranch in Montana, was everything I could ever wish for. My adoring fiancé, Samuel Stone, loved me unconditionally.

I had everything a girl could ever want.

But one fateful event shattered my perfect life. It’s unimaginable how simple, ordinary words can change a person’s life forever. For me those words were, “There’s been an accident.”

I thought Sam was my forever, but that forever came to a close the day Saxon Stone, Sam’s identical twin brother, came back. Saxon returned to Montana to help save Sam, however, the moment he entered my life, he turned my world upside down. But through chaos I somehow found clarity—clarity of who I was meant to be.

As time progressed, as seasons changed, and as a fire began to burn, I soon realized that Saxon was there for another reason…he was there to help save me.

~*~ Review ~*~ Road-Tripped: A Sexy Romantic Comedy (Ad Agency #1) by Nicole Archer

What’s worse than driving a phallic-shaped RV across the country with a coworker you hate? Falling in love with them.

Copywriter Callie Murphy has a bad attitude, a vicious tongue, and a serious aversion to Shimura Advertising’s resident manwhore, Walker Rhodes. Know where he can stick his good looks and Southern charm? She can think of a few creative places. Avoiding him wouldn’t be a problem, except her boss threatens to fire her if she doesn’t go along with him on their RV client’s cross-country tour.

Burnt-out art director, Walker, is sick of his job, tired of women, and in a big old creative rut. The upcoming client road trip is just what he needs to shake things up and rediscover his lost passion. But his plans go south when his partner drops out at the last minute, and Callie, the foul-mouthed tiny terror, takes her place. Unless he can find a way to thaw his icy coworker, he’s looking at two months of pure hell.

Road-Tripped is a stand-alone novel and the first book in the Ad Agency Series.

*Not for readers under 18. Erotic sex, adult language, and drug use.

~*~ My Review ~*~

Road-Tripped; book one in the Ad Agency Series, by Nicole Archer is a contemporary romance following the crashing and burning life of Callie Murphy.

Callie finds herself working for her friend, Skip, at his ad agency in New York, she is hard as nails and funny as hell.

Walker Rhodes is an irresistible, dreamy hunk, who Callie prefers to call the office Man-Whore

Callie has just been told she has to go on cross-country tour with her “manwhore” co-worker Walker Rhodes for an RV campaign,

what could possible go wrong?

or right for that matter?

How the hell is Walker supposed to live with a foul tempered, mouthy woman who he knows hates him for 2 months?

How is Callie supposed to put up with being around the mega sexy manwhore 24/7!

Let the real fun begin!

The sexual tension was off the charts! I was almost breaking a sweat so when they finally got down and dirty it was explosive!! hahahaha

The sound track that Archer added was a great touch.

Road-Tripped is hilarious, heartwarming, sexy and simply one helluva fun-filled adventure!

~*~ About the author ~*~

Archer’s lengthy career as an advertising copywriter not only polished her writing skills, it provided a lifetime of book material. Many months her book purchases are as high as her mortgage. As a full-time, working single mom of a beautiful, brilliant, and horrifically energetic son, she has little time to do much else but work, write, read, drink wine, and breathe. In real life, she lives in Dallas, Texas, but she’d rather live in Switzerland. Maybe if the book takes off.

My Review:

Firstly I would like to give Zoey Ellis a HUGE thank you for kindly providing me with a copy of “Claimed By Power” to read and review.
Thea isn’t your ordinary human, she has “powers of emotion” in which she uses to her advantages when the need to arises. Living in a dive of an area with her best friend Amber, they haven’t had the best up bringing, Thea striving to provide a good life for them both.
Thea is fiercely independent, understandably suspicious and distrustful in men. As if her life wasn’t bad enough she starts to see ugly creatures around her town.
Is she seeing things? Is she going crazy?
Getting herself into a bit of trouble is nothing new to Thea, this time it’s different, “they” are different.
Fearing for her life Thea thinks this is the end, that is until Camael turns up to rescue Thea.
“Camael” Cam is a Power Angel, one who is hurt and driven by his duty of an Angel.
Being tasked to look after Thea and train her, for Thea is no average human, no, She’s a Nephilim who is coming into her powers and needs guidance.
What transpires between them is a natural connection, heat and steamy desire and even though Cam is fighting against it, he eventually falls deep and hard.
Can these two get past their past ailments?
Can they allow another in?

~*~ New Release & Review ~*~ Dragon Blue: A Lie That’s True (The Dragonlords of Xandakar #1) by Macy Babineaux

Miranda Betts works as a waitress in a roadside diner in Oklahoma. Her life will change when a mysterious female customer leaves an ornate necklace in lieu of paying her check. At first, Miranda thinks Corban is a jerk. He thinks she’s an outcast from a clan he despises. But soon they will learn each other’s secrets, and as they learn to love each other their relationship may be the key to saving all of Xandakar from dark forces from another world.

Dragon Blue is the first book in a planned 5-book series, The Dragonlords of Xandakar. It contains lots of fast-paced action, VERY steamy love scenes, and a happy ending.

~*~

My Review:

Firstly I would like to give a HUGE thanks for the lovely Macy Babineaux for kindly providing me with a copy of “Dragon Blue; A Lit That’s True” to read and review.

This is my first book by this author and I was very enthralled by the synopsis so I wanted to sink my teeth into this as quickly as I could.

Have you ever thought you should be somewhere else?

When Miranda had this question aimed at her she knew she’d like to be anywhere other than working at some rundown diner, living in a rundown trailer, in a little no-man town. Little did she know she was going to get an answer to that question….one unimaginable and beyond ones wildest dreams.

Corbin Everfrost is on a mission to find his father and when an unexpected woman comes into his life, he is intrigued by her.

Miranda is a character that at first you feel slightly off about but you soon connect with her feelings and realise what she is about. Corbin comes across as an arrogant jerk who is cold and unfeeling but soon you see what’s inside and what drives him.

Can they connect?

Will Miranda survive?

I really liked the world that Ms. Babineaux created. It is primitive yet inviting. Throw in some heat, some intrigue, surprises, and I just had to keep reading.

This is a series, but the book stands alone, although some interesting intrigue is set up for future books. I will be reading them all.
