~*~ New Release & Review ~*~ Claimed By Power (Empire Of Angels Series #1) by Zoey Ellis

Claimed By Power

Not all angels are angelic…

Thea Robinson has never needed anyone’s charity. Sure, her impoverished existence isn’t desired by most, but her ability to manipulate people’s emotions helps her to blend into the shadows of an unforgiving city. When hideous creatures threaten her life, a surly but gorgeous stranger shows up revealing a world she didn’t know existed. She refuses to put up with his rude, arrogant attitude, but how do you dismiss a warrior angel? And does she really want to when his stormy gaze sends delicious thrills straight to her core?

Cam is one of the most ruthless Power angels in the fight against evil. His devotion to kill demons has made him a celebrated warrior in the Angel Realm, even though his motivation stems from grief. When he is assigned to train and protect a half-angel just coming into her abilities, his rage is unparalleled. Until he realizes Thea isn’t like any others. She stirs a carnal passion in him that he can’t shake. He never counted on her being so beautiful… so fierce… so most definitely his.

My Review:

Firstly I would like to give Zoey Ellis a HUGE thank you for kindly providing me with a copy of “Claimed By Power” to read and review.
Thea isn’t your ordinary human, she has “powers of emotion” in which she uses to her advantages when the need to arises. Living in a dive of an area with her best friend Amber, they haven’t had the best up bringing, Thea striving to provide a good life for them both.
Thea is fiercely independent, understandably suspicious and distrustful in men. As if her life wasn’t bad enough she starts to see ugly creatures around her town.
Is she seeing things? Is she going crazy?
Getting herself into a bit of trouble is nothing new to Thea, this time it’s different, “they” are different.
Fearing for her life Thea thinks this is the end, that is until Camael turns up to rescue Thea.
“Camael” Cam is a Power Angel, one who is hurt and driven by his duty of an Angel.
Being tasked to look after Thea and train her, for Thea is no average human, no, She’s a Nephilim who is coming into her powers and needs guidance.
What transpires between them is a natural connection, heat and steamy desire and even though Cam is fighting against it, he eventually falls deep and hard.
Can these two get past their past ailments?
Can they allow another in?

~*~ New Release & Review ~*~ Dragon Blue: A Lie That’s True (The Dragonlords of Xandakar #1) by Macy Babineaux

Miranda Betts works as a waitress in a roadside diner in Oklahoma. Her life will change when a mysterious female customer leaves an ornate necklace in lieu of paying her check. Later, alone in her trailer, she tries on the necklace and is transported to a strange land full of people who can shift into other creatures, including fearsome dragons. And everyone thinks she’s someone she’s not.

Corban Everfrost leads the clan of blue dragons and rules the Icelands after the mysterious disappearance of his father. While investigating the appearance of strange interlopers from another world, his sister informs him that he is to be wed to the daughter of the Wildfire clan who has been in exile on Earth since she was an infant. Corban wants nothing to do with a new bride or the Wildfires. But when he sees the dark, fiery woman brought to his world via a magic necklace, she stirs something within him.

At first, Miranda thinks Corban is a jerk. He thinks she’s an outcast from a clan he despises. But soon they will learn each other’s secrets, and as they learn to love each other their relationship may be the key to saving all of Xandakar from dark forces from another world.

Dragon Blue is the first book in a planned 5-book series, The Dragonlords of Xandakar. It contains lots of fast-paced action, VERY steamy love scenes, and a happy ending.

My Review:

Firstly I would like to give a HUGE thanks for the lovely Macy Babineaux for kindly providing me with a copy of “Dragon Blue; A Lit That’s True” to read and review.

This is my first book by this author and I was very enthralled by the synopsis so I wanted to sink my teeth into this as quickly as I could.

Have you ever thought you should be somewhere else?

When Miranda had this question aimed at her she knew she’d like to be anywhere other than working at some rundown diner, living in a rundown trailer, in a little no-man town. Little did she know she was going to get an answer to that question….one unimaginable and beyond ones wildest dreams.

Corbin Everfrost is on a mission to find his father and when an unexpected woman comes into his life, he is intrigued by her.

Miranda is a character that at first you feel slightly off about but you soon connect with her feelings and realise what she is about. Corbin comes across as an arrogant jerk who is cold and unfeeling but soon you see what’s inside and what drives him.

Can they connect?

Will Miranda survive?

I really liked the world that Ms. Babineaux created. It is primitive yet inviting. Throw in some heat, some intrigue, surprises, and I just had to keep reading.

This is a series, but the book stands alone, although some interesting intrigue is set up for future books. I will be reading them all.

~*~ Review ~*~ Angelblood (Dark Angel #4) by Hanna Peach

Seven days…

Israel seems…different since he came out of his coma. His life has been saved but Alyx had to make a deal with the devil to do so. She has to hand Israel over to Lucifer unless she finds a way to defeat Samyara. But to do this Alyx will need Israel and Jordan, the two men fighting for her heart, to work together. Can they put aside their differences long enough to defeat Samyara?

Seven days until Israel is sentenced to Hell. Seven days to find Samyara. Seven days to raise an army.

This will be Alyx’s greatest battle yet.

My Review:

After Alyx made a deal with the devil you knew that in order to save Israel a fantastic yet dangerous adventure was going to happen.

Alyx is feisty, a warrior in every since of the word, and she is determined to die before she will let Israel go to Hell. But in this installment she is also confused and hurt. She loves two men and her heart is torn.

She hurts for Israel, knowing that once he finds out it will break him, and she’s angry with Jordan for not telling her when he found out that her memory was gone but she also hurts for him as well. She hurts for herself too, knowing that no matter what her choice is, omeone she loves will be be devastated and hurt.

This was a HUGE dent in their relationship.

Where do they go from here?

Who will Alyx choose?

Israel or Jordan?

Hybrid vs Rouge Seraphim?

There was so much going on in this book: suspense, plotting and nonstop action!!

There were some fairy tales spun into a section of the book and it was amusing to see them as badasses; it was a part of the book that I really enjoyed!

I did find at times my heart stopping and having read the first three books I thought that I wouldn’t be put on the edge of my seat, but boy was I wrong. It’s like you are really there with the characters in the book – sensational.
There are quite a few surprises that the readers would really enjoy and be eager to find out.

This book also sees the start of an inevitable relationship for Cleo who made a brief appearance before.

With book four many questions got answered and new questions created.

~*~ Review ~*~ Nightwish (Echoes of Eternity #1) by Sydney Bristow

Serena Sykes just discovered that the mother, identical twin sister, and niece she never knew existed…are the last remaining witches on the planet. That is, except for Serena, who recently received her own limited, albeit wildly erratic supernatural abilities.

But her newfound family isn’t interested in helping her master those gifts. After all, Serena’s mother has been communicating beyond the veil with the first witch in their line, a sorceress named Zephora who hopes to return to this dimension and destroy an ancient curse that would unleash paranormal creatures across the globe.

To help guide her in this new landscape, Serena turns to her grandmother, an elderly woman suffering from dementia and the only vampire in existence, a man who has his own mysterious agenda. With less than 48 hours to prevent her family from triggering a supernatural wasteland, Serena must learn to control her abilities…if she hopes to save the world!

My Review:

Firstly I would like to thank the lovely Sydney Bristow for kindly providing me with a copy of “Nightwish” to read and review.

I am more than thrilled and looking forward to reading the next instalment of this, little-cherry-on-top-of-the-tree-book, I totally FLOVE anything paranormal – winner winner, chicken dinner 🙂

In Nightwish we meet Serena Sykes, a graduate who recently finished her degree from college and was brought up by her grandmother (who unfortunately more recently was diagnosed with Dementia) due to her real mother high-tailing it out of there when Serena was just a baby…tut tut tut

But what happens when the life you thought you lived wasn’t the complete truth?

What happens if you find out the one person you trust the most has betrayed you deeply?

And what happens when you find out that there is more to your life than you new?

Serena just got a boat load of information thrown at her.

She now has powers, she has a family, her family is a long line of witches, and things are just going to get complicated.

As Serena tries to come to terms with this knowledge, she realises that her grandmother is not quite herself, could the dementia be getting worse at a faster rate?

Or could it be foul play supernaturally?

I found Serena to be a tad naive and lost, but hey if I had my world turned upside I think I’d be the same.

Wouldn’t you?

Serena only has so much time to learn her powers, stop Zephora and deal with a witch of a mother and sister who are far more powerful than she.

The storyline was a very good start, definitely a getting to know you and your world scenario but with plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

~*~ Review ~*~ Bloodrealms (Bloodmark Saga #2) by Aurora Whittet

Bloodrealms (Bloodmark Saga #2)

Werewolf princess Ashling Boru’s eighteenth birthday is only a year away, which means that she only has twelve months before she is claimed and fulfills her prophecy to unite the packs and lead her people. Her father decrees that her four suitors must fight in the Bloodrealms, the werewolves’ ancient underground fighting world, and the winner will have King Boru’s choice to win Ashling’s hand. The wolf laws are rigid and barbaric, and Ashling’s illicit love for Grey, if discovered, will mean his death. But when Ashling and Grey get trapped in the blood-soaked depths of the Bloodrealms, they find ancient horrors far greater than Ashling’s father’s rule.

With betrayal around every corner and old nemeses set to destroy Ashling, she is more divided than ever between the destiny she didn’t choose and the love that she did. To make matters worse, her decision will not only set the course of her future, but the future of her entire race.

Bloodrealms is the second novel in Whittet’s Bloodmark saga.

My Review:
Firstly I would like to thank the lovely author and NetGalley for kindly providing me with a copy of “Bloodrealms” to read and review.
Ashling Boru was just getting over the trauma of being kidnapped when her father said it was time for her four suitors to compete in the bloodrealms. A tournament to find the best fighter. The three main love interests are:
1) Grey – The boy she fell in love within an instant, but whose shared love is really and truly earned by the start of this book.
2) Brychan – Ashling’s betrothed and I’d say if they end up together I wouldn’t be too outraged, Brychan’s a sweet guy, and he seems to genuinely care for Ashling.
3) Channing – Ashling’s third suitor and while he is also a sweet guy, he is a bit shallow and really loves the idea of Ashling more than who she is.
Ashling is certainly a fiery heroine and I felt she shone a helluva lot more in this instalment, which was great, she was finally coming to terms with her Destiny.
Everyone is not as they seem though, friends hide their true nature, strangers become allies and Ashling learns the meaning of loyalty to her people. The characters are so real and the pain that they are hiding is real. The pain that Ashling is going through is so real.
There are secrets, betrayals, and lots of action. The revelations and history in this book are ever-so interesting too.
Torn between duty and love, no matter which fork in the road she takes, there will be pain, but just who will she choose to love?
Bloodrealms is definitely a one of a kind, must-read for all paranormal romance lovers!

~*~ Review ~*~ Marked (The Soulseer Chronicles #1) by Sue Tingey

Marked (The Soulseer Chronicles #1)

With no family and very few friends, Lucky’s psychic ability has always made her an outcast. The only person she can rely on is Kayla, the ghost girl who has been with her since she was born.

But Kayla is not all that she appears.

And when Lucky is visited by a demonic assassin with a message for her friend, she finds herself dragged into the Underlands – and the political fight for the daemon king’s throne.

Lucky, trapped in the daemon world, is determined to find her way home… until she finds herself caught between the charms of the Guardian Jamie, the charismatic Daemon of Death Jinx – and the lure of finding out who she really is.

My Review:
Marked is about a girl, Lucky, who is able to see ghosts, one of them is her best friend, Kayla, who has been with as long as she can remember, well she thinks she’s a ghost or a spirit.
With no family and very few friends, Lucky’s psychic ability has always made her an outcast in the human world.
When Lucky is visited by a demonic assassin with a message for her friend, Kayla, Lucky finds out that Kayla is not quite what she has always believed. She finds herself and her entourage being dragged into the Underlands and begin a rocky adventure set both in our world and another, where she embarks on a journey of self-discovery about her own heritage and abilities and is caught in the middle of a political fight for a daemon king’s throne.
Lucky has caught the attention of Guardian Angel Jamie as well as Jinx, the Daemon of Death, and it’s very easy to see why they both hold such appeal to her. Jamie and Jinx are total opposites and it’s impossible to decide if I prefer the dark & brooding bad boy or the enigmatic angel….decisions… decisions… decisions …
This is the kind of story that sucks readers in very quickly and you end up completely losing track of time while you’re reading. I enjoyed the British setting and feel to the beginning of the story but I also loved getting to visit the parallel world of the Underlands. Imagine heaven and hell aren’t two places but instead one place combined, a place where demons of all manner roam alongside guardian angels.
The romantic pieces of this story were both sweet and sexy, as well as unexpected, and I cannot wait to see where it goes from here. I will definitely be picking up the next book in this series.

~*~ Review ~*~ The Apollo Academy (Apollo Academy, #1) by Kimberly P. Chase

The Apollo Academy (The Apollo Academy #1)

Source: Goodreads
Take off with this dynamic, thrill-seeking, sexy New Adult Science Fiction series debut. Welcome to the exclusive Apollo Academy, where Aurora is about to discover that achieving her dream is only the first step towards her future.

As the heiress to Titon Technologies, eighteen-year-old Aurora Titon can have whatever she wants—clothes, expensive gadgets, anything money can buy. But all she really wants is to escape her pampered, paparazzi-infested life for the stars. Becoming the first female pilot to train as an astronaut for the exclusive Apollo Academy is exactly the chance for which she has been waiting.
Flying is everything she ever dreamed, her best friend also got into the Academy, and the paparazzi is banned from campus. Everything would be perfect, but for her reciprocated crush on a fellow student, the sexy astronaut bent on making her life hell, and the fact that someone keeps trying to kill her.

The most important education doesn’t happen in the classroom…

My Review:
Firstly I would like to thank the lovely author and her publishing team for kindly providing me with a copy of The Apollo Academy to read and review.
We meet Aurora Titon; a badass female pilot with a good heart and plenty of ambition. She goes after her dreams with no excuses and doesn’t even let attempts on her life get in her way. Unfortunately for her, she is the heiress to Titon Technologies, her father’s company. She was kind, clever and thinks before she acts. I love how for once in her life she wanted to fit and blend it and that she hated attention from the paparazzi.
I was immediately sucked into Aurora’s world and found myself flipping through the pages furiously to find out what happens next. Aurora’s just a normal girl who wants to be the first female pilot at The Apollo Academy.
Zane; Also known as an unknown, he is constantly struggling to get by.
He wants nothing more than his status as an unknown to be erased and join society as a normal citizen, the way he should of when he was born….
Although his strong aptitude for techy items might be his ticket to freedom and of course into the The Apollo Academy, unfortunately for him he faces a different set of challenges. Unknowns usually aren’t permitted in the academy and if anyone finds out his real status, it could mean BIG trouble him.
Sky is the academy’s star astronaut. He comes across as arrogant at first and, for some reason, doesn’t like Aurora very much, is this a hidden agenda on his side? Aurora really nailed him in the head. She didn’t let him get away with his constant bullshit and she called him out on it too…..GO GIRL!
I just can’t pick whose Team I am on……. 😦
The secondary characters were great too. We have Kaylana who drew me in because of her humour, her caring nature and the fact that she “protected” those she considered friends, we have Akemi, he is Zane’s best-friend at the academy, who seems to have the hots for Kaylana, and it’s clear that she reciprocates his feelings.
As you read, you will uncover more secrets about these characters, some may even surprise you.
Very Different Story, than all your Average books.
This one Is about Space which is awesome!
I have never read a book about space, this is my first one and I’m glad
The Apollo Academy is a great introduction for what I know will be an exciting and slightly nerdy series.
