Here’s a little about Belle:

Belle

Belle resides somewhere north of Houston, Texas in a small inconsequential town with the smallest most inconsequential name. There in the shady reaches of the pines, elms, and oaks, she daydreams of adventures and secrets that she weaves throughout her stories. She studied literature at University of Houston and is quite sure that she has the best readers and fans in the whole wide world.

I want to share not ONE but TWO Indie-Credible book trailers by Belle Whittington

Cicada1) Cicada

Blurb:

Summertime for Blair Reynolds and her friends had always been carefree and fun… until the summer they happened upon something that was not human. As they band together in a fight for their lives, Blair’s true love becomes something more than human. Something unnatural. And their survival depends entirely upon their ability to keep a secret.

Here’s the link to MY review of Cicada: https://endlessreading.wordpress.com/2013/08/30/review-cicada-cicada-1-by-belle-whittington/

Want to see what other’s are saying about this book:

“I couldn’t help enjoying the unbelievably realistic characters featured in Cicada, who each appeared to come to life and crawl out of the pages.” ~ Wendy, A Cupcake and a Latte Book Blog

“The author did a fantastic job of creating the setting for this story and reading it at night spooked me out… A tale with a lot of twists and turns that will keep you wondering…” ~Valerie, Romancing the Book Blog

FireflyCoverFINAL2) Firefly

Blurb:

“The darkest days are ahead of us,” Andrew whispered as the drape of shadows slipped away, allowing Blair to awaken. And in her heart of hearts she knew it was true. The unmistakable signs were all around her, growing within her. She was becoming something more than human. All she could do was accept the inevitable.

“I’ve become a freak … an alien. I no longer belong to the human world,” Blair told her true love, and he held her close, determined never to give her up.

“I’d stay in this darkness forever as long as I could be with you. Wherever you are … that’s my home.” Everett meant every word. In fact, he’d willingly give up his own life to protect the girl he’d always loved.

But there was a storm brewing … a firestorm so strong and catastrophic that it could keep them apart forever.

That storm roared into town wearing a brown leather bomber jacket and riding a motorcycle.

Ash was like a secret in human clothing … a dangerous secret. Everything about him was mesmerizing – right down to the swirls of ink that flowed over the smooth muscles across his chest and around his arms. Being with him was like playing with fire.

Blair knew all about playing with fire.

She knew something else, too. A small quiet voice deep within whispered that she really would be separated from everyone and everything she’d known and loved.

Because some secrets run too deep.

Want to see what other’s are saying about this book:

“The realizations some of the characters made and the suspenseful situations they faced definitely took the intensity and interest level up a few notches. Cicada was a unique and thoughtful story. And if the intensity continues to build, the sequel, Firefly, should be an enjoyable ride.” ~Andrea, The Bookish Babes Book Blog

** I’m currently reading this book, so my review will be up shortly **

Author Interview – What Makes Belle Tick 🙂

What do you aim for when writing a book/series?

I think my biggest goal is to keep the world and storyline as true to the characters as possible. For instance, my books CICADA and FIREFLY are set in Willis, Texas. So, there are lots of things, including their dialogue, that would be true to people of the same age in this part of Texas. That’s also true when it comes to their basic beliefs, etc. So, I strive for authenticity for my characters’ sake. It’s their story, after all. I’m merely the storyteller.

Do you have a Publisher/Agent?

No. I’m a true Indie Author, so I’m my own agent and publisher. However, things are growing so quickly for me that I will soon need to find an agent.

When you write your books do you have a set reader in mind? I.e setage group? Certain sex?

That’s a really good question! While my books are written for upper YA and NA, I think I mostly have in mind anyone who would like to read a good story, no matter their age. I’d like to think my books would appeal to any gender. But it’s hard for me to tell, because all the characters reside inside my imagination.

Where do you get your ideas from? That’s if it’s ok to share of course.

My ideas sort of present themselves to me, if that makes any sense. That takes a lot of daydreaming. Oh, how I love daydreaming! I live sort of half-in-half-out of a daydream. Everything around me has a sort of magical haze to it. To me, all the world and everyone and everything in it is fair game when it comes to inspiration. People-watching (one of my favorite pastimes) is an excellent way to get inspiration for character personalities. Music, of course, helps me with mood-setting. My stories sort of play themselves out in my mind like a movie on the silver screen. I merely write down what I see as I’m seeing it. In my style of writing, I never get writer’s block, because I’m not really “making the story up,” it arrives already formed with living, breathing characters and history.

What made you want to jump the boat and write your own books?

I’ve never wanted to be anything but a writer since I learned to read in elementary school. Writing stories is something that has been with me my whole life. Words, to me, are true magic. Once spoken, an imaginary world becomes reality and characters become real entities. There’s always a story of some sort spinning away in my imagination. Not all of them find their way onto the page, but some do.

Do you have any favourite authors out there? Out of the books that you have read, which one has been the most influential/inspirational to you?

Oh, goodness! This is such a difficult question to answer, because I tend to love all the authors whose books I’ve read! I majored in Literature at University of Houston, and I must admit that the authors who’ve had the biggest impact on me would be Shakespeare, Frost, Austen, and the unknown author of Beowulf (which I dearly love!). Of course, I adore modern authors, as well … many of whom have become my friends and colleagues over the past few years. There are simply too many to list!

Your 1st book Cicada in the Cicada series, what inspired this story?

There’s not any one thing that inspired me to write Cicada. I find inspiration in everything around me, and there are a lot of cumulative memories of inspiration from over the years that all culminated in this YA Paranormal Sci- Fi trilogy! However, I will say that I did include a lot of actual places from the town in which Cicada is set. For instance, I pass a ranch on my way home every day (and sometimes night! ), and out in the middle of one of the grassy fields is a small forest of trees with a dense wall of tightly grown underbrush. For years, I’ve imagined that something very mysterious was going on inside that forest, and sometimes at night I’d get creeped out while driving by it! Now readers can get a feel for that forest by reading about the “haunted forest” in Cicada! I also get a lot of inspiration from music. Check out my inspiration playlists on my YouTube channel and Spotify to see what I’m listening to!

Do you have a specific writing style?

Well, I’m not a plotter, that’s for sure. I know the beginning, ending, and a few important things in between. Other than that, my books are generally character-led.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

I don’t think I’d change a thing! The story belongs to my characters, so I just write what they tell me to.

Are you currently working on anything at the minute? If so can you give us a sneak peak?

I’m currently writing MONARCH, the third and final book in this series. And, yes! I’ll be happy to share the very first sneak peak here on Endless Reading!

What’s the hardest part in writing a book/series?

To me, the hardest part is finding the time to sit down and actually writing. I guess another difficult thing is trying to give readers what they want while remaining true to the characters and their story.

What advice could you give to up and coming avid writers?

Read across the genres, because you never know from where your inspiration will spring. Write! Don’t stop to edit until you are finished with your story … you’ll lose your momentum. And, most of all, believe in yourself, your characters, and your story. If you aren’t writing what you love, others won’t love it, either.

Have you ever experienced writer’s block?

I don’t usually have a problem with writer’s block, because I’m constantly daydreaming.

What are your hobbies and interests that you do in your spare time? That’s if you get any spare time.

Daydreaming is, by far, my very favorite pastime. I sort of live half-in-half-out of a daydream. Everything’s so much shinier that way! LOL! Aside from that, I love spending time with family and friends and my little dog.

You mentioned on your author page of your website that your earliest writings had science fictional twists and that you wrote poems, would you be able to share one of them poems with us?

I’d love to share a poem with you! How about an autumn poem?

Do you ever wish that you had an entirely uncreative job, like data entry or working in a factory?

Well, I’ve had those types of jobs before … believe it or not. There’s nothing wrong with those types of jobs. They are honest work and are the way many folks make ends meet. But, to me, there’s nothing better than a job that allows me to daydream all day long! And that’s what writing does for me.

Why do you think books are written?

Books are written, because the author would explode if he/she kept the story inside and never put it down on paper. A writer simply has no other choice but to write.

Do you believe in the extra-terrestrial?

Yes. I believe that the universe is so vast that it is quite possible we are not alone. Have you ever watched “Ancient Aliens” on the History Channel? I simply adore Giorgio A. Tsoukalos … he’s the guy with the crazy hair. In fact, his hair has its own Facebook fan page. Yes, I follow it! One of these days, I hope I get to meet him. Anyway, some of my favorite memes have to do with him.

I realize that I sort of got off track there, but I warned you that I’m a complete goofball! In short, I do believe there are extraterrestrials. I believe many of us have seen them an have not even realized they aren’t human.

I read that your daughter runs a blog “Books & Broomsticks” that must make you proud?

Yes, she has a lovely little blog. She’s been quite busy lately and hasn’t had the time to do the things she’d like on her blog. I’m proud of her no matter what, but I was really thrilled when she decided to start a blog. Bloggers are, after all, the coolest peeps on earth!

Do you have any addictions?

Coffee is my main addiction and favorite vice.

Who is your favourite actor/actress?

Modern:

Russell Crowe and Christian Bale are probably tied as my favorite actors. Melissa McCarthy would probably be my favorite actress.

Oldies but goodies:

Charlton Heston is my favorite classic actor. Anne Baxter is my favorite classic actress.

If you had to describe yourself in less than 10 words what would you say?

Texas redhead who’s got the best readers in the world.

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

A movie of my life would be a cross-over genre of dramatic comedy sci-fi thriller with a dash of slap-stick.

Name one funny trait you have, that you would like others to know?

I get really wrapped up in movies to the point that when something scary happens, I’ll scream! It startles my daughter every time!

Finally, and on an entirely unrelated note, who would play you in a film of your life?

Those who know me are fully aware that I’m a complete and utter goofball. So, I think Melissa McCarthy would be the perfect actress to play moi in a film of my life.

It’s very inspirational of you to include your life experience of the crop circle that you and your dog “Dusty” came across whilst out walking, that experience that you lived will be forever in the world, through your book Cicada.

I think that we all need to put our hands together and give the infamous teacher Mrs Rambin a HUGE applause, for giving you the inspiration to become a writer when you were in second grade! and of course to this Indie-Credible author – BELLE WHITTINGTON –

Autumn Poem By Belle Whittington

autumn

***

So after speaking with Belle and congregating for our post for the last month I have come to the conclusion that Ms Belle Whittington is a phenomenal author, she is heart-warming and says the funniest things. She can put a smile on anyone’s face, just by not saying much, she has a great aura about her, I would Definitely  recommend ya’ll to head out after this and invest in Belle’s book. It would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the lovely Belle in person, but we will have to wait and see *fingerscrossedforwinningthelottery*

She is the AWESOMNESS of an INDIE-CREDIBLE author and we LOVE her very much!

BUTTTTTT although I have sweet nothings to say about Ms Whittington, I NEEDED to get some dirt on her *EvilLaugh* so I have been in cohorts with not only one of her BETA readers but a close friend to Belle, here is what dirt Brandi has to dish on Belle Mwahh Mwahh Mwahh

“Reading Belle’s stories is like a brand new expensive box of chocolate! I’m like a junkie needing a fix, waiting for Belle to send me the next piece of the puzzle. For those of you wondering, Belle does not write in order, she writes as the story comes to her.

I will admit as a reader, this can be a little challenging, but I’m so invested in the characters and story, that I take what I can get, when I can get it! I’ve been reading Belle’s writing since she began writing Cicada.

Belle’s writing has only become better; the story line is not filled with frivolous and needless information or filler. Every detail she mentions has a meaning and purpose, as she carefully and masterfully constructs the intricacies of the plot.

She reveals the pieces of the puzzle at a perfect pace to keep the reader both satisfied and poised on the edge of their seat, clamouring for more! With each book the story becomes darker as more of the mystery of Blair and her story unfolds. As the books become darker, the action also picks up and this my friends is a very, very good thing.

Another thing I love about this series is that you get a front seat view of how the characters change throughout the story. Blair is not the only one who changes, as events unfold and more information is revealed to the reader. Who is the good guy? Who is the bad guy? The answer to these questions may not be as simple as you think!! In summary, if you are looking for a teeth gnashing, action packed, mystery and suspense filled series that includes steamy kissy scenes, then these books are for you! “
