Book Title: THE REBELS
Author: BRITTANY JO JAMES
Happiness is only reserved for the upper class in the United States of America.
As a military wife who spends most of her time working for minimum wage, Temper Jensen can attest to that. Finding a spare moment to spend with her husband, Voss, is a luxury she can hardly afford.
Everything changes when the citizens realize that the president of the country is nothing more than a terrorist bent on total domination. Freedom no longer exists for the citizens of the United States of America and all who dare defy their new rulers are considered rebels of the nation.
Temper knows what she must do, even if it means being separated from Voss in order to save his life. Risking everything, she runs home to her moonshine-brewing anarchist daddy’s home in southwest Arkansas to collect a congregation of rebels to fight back. No one can be trusted, especially Temper’s devious ex-boyfriend who won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
Can Temper reunite with her husband, keep her wayward family out of trouble, and restore the USA to the nation under God that it was intended to be—or will freedom as we know it be lost forever?
I was just dying to wait to read this story from Brittany. I’ve been hooked on her work since she first approached me asking if I wanted to review “My Knightly Dreams“
I was blown away with characters, and moral of this outstanding story
This is a world that is at war and Temper is right, we have shied away from reality, were slowly loosing it right from under our noses.
“No one really cared about anyone else anymore, especially not strangers. It was a dog eat dog world…Every man for himself.”
Temper lived on camp with her Husband Voss. Voss is a man of Honour. He would do anything for his country and his wife, but having to choose between his honour for the women he loves and the honour for the love of his country starts to take its toll.
There was a passage that Brittany wrote in this from the Bible. Now I’ll be honest I’m not Christian and I don’t go to church, but I do believe that there is “something” in higher places that are dealing our hands that we are meant to be dealt….and this passage…it moved something inside of me
“Then is my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the decrees and command I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods, then I will uproot the people from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honour my name. I will make it an object of mockery an ridicule amongst nations. And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled. They will ask, ‘Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’ And the answer will be, ‘Because his people abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and they worshipped other gods instead and bowed down to them. That is why he has brought all these disasters on them.”
I don’t really want to spoil the plot for anyone, so I shall try to refrain from exposing anything but to give you a low down of it all.
Temper and Voss see a change in the Government..somethings “off” for better or for worse…that is the question.
True beings come to light and it would seem power has gone to their head, Temper heading back home starts to think about the situation that she has found herself in…can she do this?
Heading to her home roots Temper finds a few “friendly” folk who kinda bring light to this darkened day and age.
After learning the true extent of the Governments deceit, Temper and her family start to rebel.
If it’s a war their looking for, then it’s a war they can so greatly welcome….I say!
Searching for those oppose to the Governments plans Temper and her family start searching.
Searching for survivors…
Searching for those who will fight back
Searching for….The Rebels
Of course there were times where people thought why? Why are we doing this? Why not give in? Temper as strong as she is, doubted herself and her family for a short second…only to be shown the light….the true meaning living their lives.
” I wanted to live a normal life with my husband, raise a family and go to church on Sundays. My life was supposed to be about upgrading to stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops but just having a pot to cook in now was a luxury I couldn’t afford. I was an outlaw, a criminal, a rebel, a murderer and a thief. My life was no longer what it was merely two months before. I suppose even I was crooked, although I tried my hardest to be ethical. I shook my head and picked up my pace, refusing to ponder anymore on what I was doing wrong or right.”
I love the fact that Brittany (who by the way is a military wife) manages to keep Tempers character from doing the wrong thing at the end, I mean if it was me I would of killed the guy, but there are morals and lessons to be learned from this, which Brittany wrote so well…clearly a better writer than myself, hence why she writes for a living and I don’t…Pahaaa
Anyway, The Rebels isn’t a book to be messed with, you seriously need to nail down the hatches, lock all the doors and prepare yourself for a bloody battle with fate…oh and a feisty blonde haired beauty….Temper (she totally lives up to her name BTW)
