~*~ Review ~*~ Absolution By Amanda Dick

A freak accident – a moment in time – and life changes forever.

Driving home from a concert one night, Jack McKenna, his girlfriend Ally and best friend Callum are high on an adrenaline rush. Then blinding headlights, a sickening crunch and suddenly their world is turned upside down. In the horrifying chaos that follows, Jack is forced to make a split-second decision with consequences he could never have foreseen.

Consumed with guilt, he takes the only option he believes is open to him: he disappears. Believing he is beyond forgiveness, from those he loves and from himself, he drops off the grid but the memories remain. He carves a new life for himself and his sporadic phone calls to his father become merely a tenuous thread to the man he used to be.

Four years later, a funeral signals a homecoming fraught with tension. Facing the consequences of his actions head-on, he struggles to change his future, even as his past continues to haunt him. During the painful journey of self-discovery that follows, he must learn that unless he breaks the cycle and stands his ground, he will be destined to repeat his mistakes.

Stay or go – there is no such thing as the easy way out.

My Review

Firstly I would like to thank Amanda for kindly providing me with a copy of Absolution to read and review.

A freak accident – a moment in time – and life changes forever.

A Car accident that change the lives of Jack, Ally & Callum is one on a horrific scale, it wasn’t Jack’s fault but he couldn’t stop blaming himself, which any true person would do.

There’s always what if’s? but people can’t live like this? Always thinking that if they could go back in time and make a slight change the butterfly affect that would of taken place would change them for the better….but unfortunately such things don’t exist and we have to take what we get…

Too much for him to handle Jack runs away, never to look back again for four years, when he receives a dreaded call from his former best friend Callum, that will change his life yet again…

I had a love/hate relationship with Callum, he stepped up when Jack left and took control of a situation that others wanted to give up on, he was a solid rock for Ally, one she could lean on and depend on… but he is also a cheeky smartass kind of guy…

Ally….this girl has had it bad…before the accident she didn’t really have a father figure, not until Jack & Tom moved into their town, Tom became somewhat a step-father to Ally… 😀

After the accident her life changed for the worse, having to live with the outcome has taken its toll on her, especially when she found out that Jack had abandoned her, without no explanation, no goodbye, nothing…

Above all of this she shows a strong persona, but underneath, she’s scared, alone & really down in the dumps, but she can’t let her loved ones see her in this much pain, she has to be strong for them, for her, for HIM?

These three are broken inside and out, they weren’t perfect, they all their flaws, and the way Amanda wrote them was beyond great.

All hell is breaking loose when Ally & Callum find out that Jack is returning to home…after four years…

Can they finally get the truth as to why he left?

Can Ally forgive him?

Can Jack forgive himself?

What lies ahead for this trio?
