Olivia awoke from an afternoon nap, admiring the beautiful man sleeping peacefully next to her. She glanced around the large bedroom, the duvet and several pillows thrown on the floor. A grin spread across her face, thinking about the amazing sex she had with Alexander just a few hours earlier. She pried herself out of his arms and went in search of a much-needed bathroom.
Grabbing her jeans and sweater, she threw them on before quietly walking over to the door, thankful when it didn’t creak and wake up Alexander. After finding a bathroom, she went to see if his mother needed any help getting things ready for that evening.
The house was eerily quiet as she walked down the stairs searching for Colleen. “They must all be outside,” she said to herself. She headed in the direction of the back door, when a room off the hallway caught her eye. She stopped dead in her tracks, a memory rushing back. Her fifth birthday. Her mama had made her a cake in the shape of a Care Bear. She could have sworn she remembered her mama and the green-eyed boy from the dream sitting beside her in that very room, singing to her as she blew out the candles on that cake.
Turning, she headed toward the ornate dining room, the table and chairs all covered with sheets. Walking around the room, she felt as if she had been there before, but that was impossible. She hadn’t even known Alexander for a year and this was the first time he invited her home with him. Still, the smell and sounds in that room were strangely familiar.
She scanned the walls and her eyes settled on a large picture frame covered with a white sheet. The other portraits weren’t hidden. Curious, she slowly made her way to the center of the room where the enormous frame hung. She gingerly began to raise the sheet, wondering what was underneath.
“Olivia, dear! There you are!” Colleen called out, startling her.
She jumped, placing her hand over her chest. “Colleen. I’m sorry. I came downstairs to see if you needed any help, and I guess I got a little sidetracked.” She shrugged her shoulders, feeling guilty that she was caught snooping around.
Colleen walked over to Olivia and placed her hands on her shoulders, trying to lead her out of the room and away from the large family portrait of Alexander and Olivia as children. “I understand. It happens to the best of us.”
“Colleen,” Olivia said, raising her voice. “Why is that portrait covered up?”
She stopped, turning to look at her. She hated having to lie to the poor girl, particularly when her son should have simply told her the truth by now. He swore he would tell her, and she didn’t want to interfere…not yet, anyway. “I’m sorry, Olivia. It’s just that whenever Alexander comes home, I try to rid the house of any memories of…”
“Oh,” she said, understanding. “I should have known.” She turned to head back upstairs, her shoulders slightly dropping.
“Olivia, dear!” Colleen called out.
She stopped and faced her.
“He loves you very much. I’ve never seen him so happy in all his life, even when he was a little boy.” She smiled before retreating back outside, leaving Olivia alone with her thoughts about Alexander and why the dining room in that house brought back memories of her fifth birthday.
I…..I…..well I don’t know what to say….I’ve been sat at my computer for the last half an hour contemplating what I would right about this.
Gorgeous Chaos kept me on the edge of my seat and I honestly could not put it down, except at a certain part…it was at roughly 83% and I couldn’t handle the emotions anymore….I had to gather my bearings and then go back to it.! This is a FIRST for me…..
I was totally apprehensive to read this……it’s faaarrrr to sad to see a trilogy come to an end, I honestly don’t think I can possibly let them go…..I want to hold onto them forever!!!!!
There’s so much I want to say, but I don’t at the same time, as I feel as soon as the words are in front of me it all becomes real…..Olivia & Alex will be gone….the trilogy finished with?….and I CAN’T possibly let that happen….
I need to hang onto them for as long as I can!!!! PLEASEEEEE
The love and endearment that Olivia & Alex share is something special….something every girl wants in a relationship….I truly do believe that there is a soul mate out that specially made for one another
She glimpsed over her shoulder and shivered from the primal stare Alexander gave her. “See something you like, Mr Burnham?” she winked. ” I see something I love, Miss Adler.” He slinked his arm around her waist and planted an affectionate kiss no her temple as they walked across the street to the park and sat down on a bench, looking out over the river.
I thought we’d finally gotten over that pedestal where these two were at each others throats, they stopped running from one another….HELL TO THE NO!
Shit was getting real….Olivia’s past was catching up to her…..targeting her more….threatening her more…but throughout this horrid ordeal, she realised that her rock was Alex….he was her future
“Hey Olivia?” “Yes?” “Thank you.” Olivia scrunched her eyebrows. “For what?” ” For letting me love you. For letting me in. For letting me beneath your skin…your beautiful, perfect skin.”
We were touch and go at times people, Olivia was starting to remember stuff and the meddling Adele, didn’t help with matters, creating a wedge between her and Alex….Can she trust him?
Is Alex with holding information from her?
“I was the only seven-year-old boy in Mystic who was whipped enough to agree to have a tea party with a girl in his own front yard!” He smiled at the memory.
I will warn you, there are scenes in this book that will thoroughly break your heart and scar you, well they did to me. What Leigh wrote is an every day occurrence that women, children, even men go through, and I truly believe its those survivors, that are the strongest people out there
I loved that we got to see Cam again, although I was rooting for Alex from book #1, Cam did hold a special place in my heart…..and I’m excited to read his story in ~ Heart Of Light
Of course T.K had to sneek in humour amongst the pain
This cat right here cracks me up….
Nepenthe stalked down the corridor, his keen eyes trained on the dog, debating whether or not he would allow him to live another day
Now we start to learn more of the secrets that Alex is not telling Olivia, we start to piece this mystery together, but let me tell you this….even though you THINK you may have figured out who this luminous monster is, who is behind the pain and murder….YOUR WRONG. YOU WILL NOT be able to comprehend the truth…I didn’t and STILL don’t
The effin…#@#@#@#@#@ Arghhhhhggghhhh
The ending was hard to get through, as I stated in the beginning of my review at roughly 83% I had to put the book down…..gather my thoughts….I bet you’re thinking why? Trust me…when you read this book and read what happens before 83% and after…..you will feel the same as I did and still do
Sooo….No I’m not going to talk about the ending, because I don’t want it to end, and if I type the words about it, it will become real for me and I don’t want it to.
So I shall end on this note.
This is another fantastically written, beautifully choreographed piece of writing by T.K, this is by far the best book in this series, although its the third instalment.
Another ugly cry from me….yet again
If you haven’t started this series, then I HIGHLY suggest you get 1-clicking
