She turned to grab Margo when she ran straight into a tall muscular mass. The impact caused her to fall back and stumble until she fell straight on her ass. Embarrassment laced through her body as she looked up and made eye contact with those light green eyes she couldn’t stop thinking about since last night.

“Whoa, sorry there Lexi.” Jake said, while reaching out a hand to help her up. She ignored his hand and got up herself. Margo caught up to her and the smirk on Margo’s face made Lexi want to punch her best friend square in the boob.

“Hey Jake.” Margo said. “Looks like you took down our little center fielder. No one ever knocks her down.”

Lexi looked at Margo as if she was insane for talking to him. She grabbed her friends arm and started walking away from the massive football player. Margo was mumbling something under her breath when Lexi was yanked back by the arm.

“Hold up” Jake said. “I want to talk to you.”

Lexi looked at Margo and said, “Go ahead talk away. Margo I’ll catch up with you later.”

Margo stopped her. “Deary, he wants to talk to you, not me.”

Lexi turned to Jake to confirm and he just smiled. Lexi folded her arms in front of her chest putting off the most defensive stance she knew and asked, “What do you want? And why they hell are you up this early? The football team never has to work out this early.”

“I wanted to catch you before you went to class.”

Lexi shook her head. “How do you even know I have class this morning?” She held up her hand. “Wait, I don’t care, just tell me what you want.”

“Fine, I’ll get right down to the point. I want you to be my date for the alumni dinner this Friday.”

Lexi felt her mouth drop to the floor. He wants her to be his date? Want? He didn’t even ask, he just stated his needs. She was about to open her mouth in protest when Margo beat her to it and said, “She would love to. What time?” Margo’s interjection made Jake smile, causing Lexi to slightly melt but then she realized what Margo said and she was able to regain her senses.

“No, I would not love to. Where the hell do you get off going around demanding what you want people to do? You can find yourself another date. Lord knows any girl will trade her left tit to go on a date with you.”

Her comment made Jake laugh, causing rage to take residence in Lexi’s body. “What is so funny?” She asked.

“You, you’re so stubborn.”

“I’m stubborn? Because I don’t want to go out with you? That’s not stubborn, that’s just knowing what I don’t want and I’m sorry to say but that’s you.”

Jake feigned an attack to his heart as he put his hands to his chest. “Your words kill me.” She rolled her eyes. He straightened up and said, “I’ll bet you for it.”

Lexi wanted to take out whoever told him all about her. How the hell did he know she never turned down a bet? It was her one weakness, whenever someone said they would bet her, it was practically impossible for her to refuse. She looked at Jake and knew no matter what he said, she wouldn’t be able to refuse because she wanted to put him in his place and wipe that damn smirk off his gorgeous mug.

“The haunting pools of dark chocolate drew me in and made my skin crackle. She was beautiful, breathtakingly so. before this moment, I don’t think I truly realized just how beautiful she is. A new ache formed in my chest.”

Christopher Mason, front man of the band The Forgotten. He’s hot, he’s famous and everything a famous rock star can be. But despite his fame and bad boy look, inside he battles demons. Demons so powerful they may destroy him. All hope seems lost. Slowly, his star is falling.

Mia Ryder, lead vocalist of the band Hushed Mentality, enters his life. Energetic, fun, and laidback, Mia is just about everything Christopher isn’t. And he definitely doesn’t want her on his tour.

But one night changes everything. For the first time in his life, Christopher Mason becomes sure of one thing, and it’s the one thing he’s tried so hard to push away.

I let everyone pass me, watching to make sure he went by. Once he passed me, I felt relieved and walked toward the little store, hanging around long enough for everyone to get to their rooms. After about ten minutes, I figured I’d killed enough time and finally headed to my room.

The elevator was quiet and only stopped at one other floor, though no one was waiting. I stepped off the elevator and turned in the direction of my room, halting in my tracks. Damn it!

I sighed and continued walking, but Christopher pushed away from the wall and walked in front of me.

“Excuse me,” I growled and tried to walk around him. He moved to the side, cutting off my escape.

“Jesus Christ, Christopher. What?” I spat out and stood with my arms across my chest.

He started walking closer toward me. With each step he made forward, I took one back. I felt my back hit a wall and he pressed closer. For a moment, he scared me, but then a weird ease came over me when he was close enough for me to feel the heat of his body. I wanted to slap him and then I wanted to slap myself for reacting this way.

“I think that I want –”

Before he could finish, I tried to slip out from the side. He placed his hands on either side of me, preventing my retreat. I scowled at him and he smirked. The motherfucker smirked. I wanted to slap the stupid smirk off his face. I also wanted to swipe my tongue over that cocky smirk.  The heat from his slim, yet firm, body pressing against mine was causing sparks to light across my nerve endings. What the fuck is wrong with me? I gave him a hateful look while my eyes scanned over his features, taking him in fully for what felt like the first time. God, he’s so fucking pretty. His intense blue eyes were boring into mine, his high cheekbones and sharp jaw so pristine it was as if he were a painting; the perfect depiction of bad boy wrapped up within a man. The slight stubble across his jaw gave him a harder look that was so appealing… I shook away my thoughts. This is ridiculous. My annoyance grew toward him and myself for becoming putty in his hands.

“Move, Christopher!” I yelled.

He shook his head with his smirk still firmly in place.

“As I was saying, I think I want you…”

My mouth dropped open in utter shock while my body responded to the words.

“…your voice,” he finished, laughing at my reaction.

“Excuse me?”

His laugh was like a bucket of ice tossed on my mounting libido. I shoved at his chest, his extremely hard chest, forcing him backward. Damn, I bet defined muscles of perfection lay under his thin, cotton shirt.

“You heard me,” he said before turning to walk toward his room.

I couldn’t take it anymore. I had had enough of his arrogance and pissy attitude.

“I can’t stand you!” I shouted to his retreating figure. “I don’t know what your damn problem is but –”

He snapped his head around, drilling his dark eyes into me. I could see the anger writhing off him.  Before I knew it, he stood before me again, invading my personal space. Breathing heavily, his eyes dark as midnight, he moved his hand down my side, caressing the side of my breast down to my hip where he gripped lightly. He moved his face closer to mine before dipping down to my jawline, placing a chaste kiss. I shivered. Apparently, my body and brain were not functioning in unison.

“You don’t know one fucking thing about me, baby,” he growled against my neck, his hot breath causing goose bumps to break out across my skin.  Abruptly, he pushed away and hightailed it back to his room.

My body went cold and I fucking seethed.  Walking past his door, I kicked it hard along the way to my room. I slammed my door behind me.

“Isn’t enough that I can’t stop thinking about you Sophie?” he says, his voice low and persuasive. “What else do you want from me?”

Sophie chose to be alone rather than be with David Preston, the man who has her heart, and yet refuses to share his. Now she’s trying to make a life for herself, a life that will not include him.

But how can she get over a man who refuses to let her go, especially when he can still set fire to her blood with just one touch.

My Review:

** Spoilers Maybe Present **

YAY! I’m so thrilled to receive an email from Serena with an ARC copy of this book to read and review 🙂

I’ve loved this WHOLE series so far and couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into the fourth and FINAL instalment…. Or is it?… (Hint Hint)

I’ve seriously still got my Love/Hate relationship going on here! Urghh that man has so big headed

But I loved to see him start to cave and crumble after Sophie left him.

So he should.

Doesn’t he realise what a wonderful and beautiful woman and relationship he has lost….

Sophia was a walking zombie, walking half dead, depressed, and constantly reminded on David by only the small things.

Of course she misses the big Ol’ oaf, she’s in love with him. but why can’t the lug get it into his thick head!

Urghhh, you see, this is what the man does to me, riles me up…

But I can’t help feel sorry for his gorgeous little ol’ arse, as we learnt a lot about his childhood and the love he never got in “Claim” book 3 🙂

The ending was just what the doctor ordered, Perfect in its entirety.

Although I would like to see maybe what happens next……
