Maura Pierce seems to have everything – a bright future, a trust fund and a boyfriend who can’t wait to settle down.

It almost seems like enough until Nate Sullivan comes home. Nate – her childhood best friend, her first love. The boy who left without a trace one night and broke her heart.

When their attraction threatens the future she and her parents have so carefully crafted, loyalties will be tested and secrets will be uncovered.

Giving in may cost her everything. But how do you resist the only thing you’ve ever really wanted?

I want to avoid this baseball game like I’ve wanted to avoid nothing in my life, but I can’t do it to Elise, or Ethan, who’s playing, so here I sit.

Kendall plops down on the picnic blanket beside me with an exhausted sigh.

“Gah. We’re gonna get eaten alive out here watching this stupid shit when we could be sitting at Oak right now,” she grouses.

“Well, I love it,” counters Elise. “I feel like I’m 16 again.”

I feel 16 again too and that’s exactly the problem. The humid air is thick, plump with the smell of grass and salt, the way it always was. I am leaning back on my arms, waiting, just like I once did. And it’s the contrast that tears me up. Because leaning back on a blanket like this, feeling the sweat bead up between my shoulder blades – this I associate with Nate. With waiting for him, with watching him, with the secret shot of joy I felt every time he looked over and caught my eye, the slight upward quirk of his mouth. He could look at me from 40 yards away and I knew what he was thinking. And I would watch him, all lean muscle and propulsive speed, with a slow burn of desire.

It would start small, and I would allow it to grow, as the game neared completion.

And when the game ended all that need rushed in, overwhelming me as I stood on the sidelines waiting for him. It did for him too – I could see it in his face, in the way he plowed toward me like he’d run down anything that got in our way. He would grab me, lifting my legs around his waist, not even slowing his pace as he moved us into the darkness. We never made it off the school grounds before I was tasting the dust and sweat on his neck and pushing against him, wanting more.

This is what I think as I sit here. That I want that back, the experience of wanting something desperately that is actually yours. Of wanting what you already have, instead of wanting what will never be yours again.

And then Nate walks around the corner of the school, and the first thing he seeks, the first thing he finds, is me, as if the experience of us seeking and finding each other on this field is so engrained we can’t help but continue to do so even now. What I see when I look at him is, inexplicably, pain. A mirror of my own. He jerks his head away with a scowl.

I try to watch Ethan, but the truth is that I can’t stop watching Nate, can’t stop watching the flex of his calves, the way he moves as he stands by first base, the lean line of him as he whips the ball to the pitcher.

The game ends and our eyes meet once more. For a moment, I can’t look away, can’t pretend that I hate him. And for once, he doesn’t either.

Cover Reveal – Under Different Stars By Amy A Bartol

Under Different Stars_book coverAUTHOR: Amy A. Bartol
GENRE: YA Dystopian
RELEASE DATE: December 17, 2013

All she wants is a home, but can she find one…UNDER DIFFERENT STARS

Kricket Hollowell is normally not one to wish upon stars; she believes they’re rarely in her favor. Well versed at dodging caseworkers from Chicago’s foster care system, the past few years on her own have made Kricket an expert at the art of survival and blending in. With her 18th birthday fast approaching, she dreams of the day when she can stop running and find what her heart needs most: a home.

Trey Allairis hates Earth and doubts that anyone from his world can thrive here. What he’s learning of Kricket and her existence away from her true home only confirms his theory. But, when he and Kricket lie together under the stars of Ethar, counting them all may be easier than letting her go.

Kyon Ensin’s secrets number the stars; he knows more about Kricket’s gifts than anyone and plans to possess her because of them. He also knows she’s more valuable than any fire in the night sky. He’ll move the heavens and align them all in order to make her his own.

When everything in their world can be broken, will Kricket rely upon love to save her under different stars?

I glance at Trey; he looks like an advertisement for Calvin Klein. Wearing only dark, athletic boxers, he’s something out of a catalog or a warrior movie. Blushing deeply, I want to crawl under the rock I’m on. “Wade into the water together. We should tie you two so that you’re face-to-face with both your heads above the water,” Jax says. Trey nods, extending his hand for me to take.

Avoiding looking at him, I stand up, walking to the water’s edge on my own. Dipping my toes in the water, I pull them back sharply. “It’s freezing!” I glower at them, hearing my voice echo off the walls again.

“It is,” Trey agrees, scooping me up in his arms and wading out quickly into the water before I can object further. When he is chest deep, he says softly in my ear, “Breathe.”

Clinging to him tightly with my arms around his neck, I inhale deeply before muttering, “Shh…you’re interrupting my revenge plotting.”

“If you survive this, I’ll insist that you learn to swim,” he says, sounding annoyed as Jax wades to us with a line, circling us.

“If I survive this, I’m killing you,” I reply dryly, feeling the rope tense, drawing me tighter against Trey’s warm body.

A small smile touches his lips at my comment. “How do you propose to do that?” He gazes into my eyes as Jax knots us together.

“I’ll let you spend some sleepless nights worrying about that,” I reply, my teeth beginning to chatter as the cold water is chilling me to the bone.

About The Author:

I live in Michigan with my husband and our two sons. My family is very supportive of my writing. When I’m writing, they often bring me the take-out menu so that I can call and order them dinner. They listen patiently when I talk about my characters like they’re  real. They rarely roll their eyes when I tell them I’ll only be a second while I finish writing a chapter…and then they take off their coats. They ask me how the story is going when I surface after living for hours in a world of my own making. They have learned to accept my “writing uniform” consisting of a slightly unflattering pink fleece jacket, t-shirt, and black yoga pants. And they smile at my nerdy bookishness whenever I try to explain urban fantasy to them. In short, they get me, so they are perfect and I am blessed.

Release Day Blitz – Silk (Whispering Cove #8) By Cathryn Fox

During release week only it’s on sale for $2.45

Unwrap a little holiday wickedness…

The pleasures of Christmas. Love. The two things Jon Wilson doesn’t think he deserves, thanks to a holiday accident that took his parents. Under pressure from his uncle, Jon returns to Whispering Cove for the annual festivities, but he’s counting down the hours until he can hop a Christmas Eve plane back to his Miami medical practice.

Chef Lila Sheppard left the big city and its fast-talking men for Whispering Cove, hoping to settle down with a nice, small-town boy. Until Mr. Picket Fence appears, though, she’s not opposed to a tango on the wild side. When Jon shows up—gorgeous, hot and temporary—she figures Santa delivered her Christmas present a few days early.

Soon they’re heating up cold, wintry nights, but as they get lost in each other’s arms, Lila begins to realize their brief affair has become something more. Yet she wonders if there’s enough magic in Whispering Cove to show Jon that love can heal all hearts…and that there’s only one place he belongs.

Warnings: Contains enough passion to melt ice, and turn any blustery wintry night into a hot, sultry holiday.

My Review:

Jon, god bless his kind hearted soul, is a lost one at that. Feeling alone in the world and carrying the burden of thinking it was his fault he lost his family, he has lost his Christmas spirit.

Death can do that to a person, strip them down and be long forgotten, that’s what it’s like.

Lila moved miles apart from her family, something she never thought she would do.

Would she be able to survive Christmas?

Lives are entwined for these two lost souls, can the love of Christmas re-kindle the fire, can Santa deliver their wishes on time?

Such a heart-warming Christmas book, that will certainly get you into the spirit of the Christmas festivities.

Ohh and yes, there will be HOT, steamy scenes to your hears content :).

This is the first book I’ve read in this series, but they can be read as a standalone 🙂 I wouldn’t mind reading more in this series, if there anything like this one 😉

Congrats Cathryn, I have found yet another author to Stalk 😀

About The Author:

I’ve been reading romance novels for as long as I can remember. I just never thought I’d be writing them. In fact, I graduated from university with a business degree and started working in the Finance Department of Environment Canada…shiver. A few years into my career, my hubby, who’s a meteorologist, got posted up north, population 800. I quit my job and went with him. At first all the spare time was great, then I got bored so I started to read. Day and night. When I ran out of books to read I decided to try writing one. After all, how hard could it be. Ha!! Well, you guessed it. It was hard!

Many years later I discovered Romance Writers of America and have learned a great deal since joining my local chapter. My journey to publication hasn’t been smooth sailing, but with the support and guidance from the wonderful writers at RWAC, it’s been a lot easier. And a lot more fun!

Danny Thomas was never the boy who got the girl. All through high school, he sat in the back seat and watched his best friend, Skylar McBride, in all his crowning glory. The girls always flocked to Skylar, leaving Danny the third wheel.

Everything changes the first day of college, when Danny meets Mira Adam sand she completely steals his heart. She’s the only girl that ever chose Danny.

Through the ups and downs of college, Danny and Mira’s relationship blossoms into something truly beautiful. A relationship that dreams are made of. The bond of four friends: Danny, Skylar, Mira and Kylee is tested one fateful night when an accident changes everything.

Inception immediately follows the first book in the Destined Series, Mirage and showcases Danny’s point of view during those four years that almost ended the night of graduation.

To understand the full story, you have to go back to the beginning: The Inception

My Review:
Firstly thank you to Ashley for providing me with an ARC of this book to review for this 🙂 ❤ Much LOVEAGE

YAY! We get to see the story behind Mira & Danny. If you’ve read Mirage then you know in the beginning we didn’t know him as he was involved in an accident and died.

In this though, oh boy…..totally different story.

We get to see who the real Danny is

We get to see the blossoming relationship that blooms and strengthens between Mira & Danny.

This whole book is set in Danny’s POV, and his trial and tribulations in winning HIS girl.

I did finish this in one sitting, yes, it’s a short novella, but it still had me hooked from page one.

We see more of the relationship between Skylar & Danny, as these two are not only best-friends but brothers, from another mother 😉

Sklyar is still H to the O to the T!

Guys! If you’ve read the ending of Mirage…..then I think this saying totally goes……..”Houston, we have a problem”

There are a few surprises in this book and I can’t wait to read Awakened as I have a plan of what I want to happen and I do hope Ashley does come through and give us all, the most important thing in bromance….sorry I mean Romance 🙂 HEA…..That’s right out HAPPILY EVE AFTER!

My Review:

OMG! My heart is breaking all over again 😥

A Huge thank you to K.M Scott for giving me an ARC copy of this book to review 🙂

Tristan Stone – HOT PIECE OF BADASS!

So Nina is coping with life in general and her so called “love life” with Tristan after her accident which caused her to loose her memory….that is such a BITCH.!

She doesn’t remember a single thing from the last 4 years of her life.

Imagine how hard it is on both Nina & Tristan. After finally opening themselves up and diminishing the demons in their lives, they finally found the one soul that they belong to and have a love so strong NOTHING can break them apart….

The ending….Oh My Fricking God! Seriously!

After everything they have been through this happens.?
